7.        PROPOSALS

Strathclyde Tournament
This was discussed at length as the tournament was awarded OOM points in 2007 which goes against the
constitution.  There were concerns expressed at this as not all forces attended the event and some felt the
awarding of points was unfair.  It was decided to have a vote to see whether the points should have been
awarded
Yes – 8
No – 4
Carried – Strathclyde OOM points to remain
A further vote was had to decide whether the OOM should be 5 from 8 tournaments.
Yes – 8
Carried – The OOM ranking to be based on 5 from 8

Whilst there were number of proposals put forward they were not discussed in order and it was more of a
fluid discussion incorporating all the proposals in one form or another.

•        Al Hopkinson presented a proposal to make all forces who wish to hold tournaments apply at the
preceding years AGM for it to be decided upon by the members. This was defeated with only Gloucestershire
voting for it.
•        The discussion then centred on the number of tournaments to be played.  With the introduction of the
Strathclyde tournament that meant there would be 8 events, as the constitution only had 7 this needed a vote.
Carried unanimously that the OOM consists of 8 events.
•        2009 is the last West Midlands tournament and much discussion was had as to how this tournament
should be replaced.  It was decided that this date would be fixed for any force who wish to hold an event and
that they should bid for the event at the preceding years AGM.  If a force is successful then they cannot bid
again until all other forces who wish to do so have held an event.  This was put to the vote with Yes – 9 and
the proposal was carried
•        Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire, Thames Valley all withdrew their proposals to hold a tournament in light
of the above
•        The National singles is to be held at a non tournament force wherever possible, this was carried
unanimously
•        Discussions were centred on the ladies handicap event and the awarding of trophies in the main event.
It was decided that ladies can only gain a trophy in the ladies handicap singles and not in the open handicap
singles.  This was also carried.

The meeting was brought to a premature end due to having to get back onto the lanes.  The tournament dates
