POLICE SPORTS UK INDOOR GAMES TEN PIN BOWLING RULES
- The
Police Athletic Association Indoor Games Committee shall promote an Annual
Police Athletic Association Indoor Games Championships hereinafter
referred to as The Championships.
- Competition
shall be confined to members of affiliated clubs, who have been sworn in
as paid constables, paid police support staff, paid Cadets, retired police
officers or retired members of police support staff, as defined in Rule 39
of the Police Sports UK Constitution.
- For
the purposes of the National Championships Great Britain and Northern
Ireland shall be divided into eleven separate Regions as decided by the
PSUK Council.
- Ten
Pin Bowling matches are played in line with the rules of the British Ten
Pin Bowling Association (BTBA) and the British Police Ten Pin Bowling
Association(BPTBA)
- In
respect to these Championships for ten pin bowling the following events
will be contested at the National Finals:
Ladies Singles
Men's Singles
Open Doubles
- Entry
to the National Championships will be as a result of winning the regional
qualifiers in the specified event.
- All
current members of the BPTBA will have to bowl in the regional qualifiers
if there are any non BPTBA bowlers entered in the qualifiers. In any event
BPTBA will have to indicate their initial intention to bowl in their
regional qualifier.
- BPTBA
secretary/PSUK Committee ten pin bowling representative Tom Walsh must be
notified when the regional qualifiers are to be held in order that notice
can be given to BPTBA members
- If a
region does not hold a ten pin bowling qualifier or only BPTBA bowlers
have entered the qualifier then the regional qualification will not take
place and qualification under rule 11 and 12 will take place.
- The
format of qualification will be dependant on entries. If there are 6 or more entries in each
event then qualification will be by a round robin format followed by a top
4 step ladder final. Regional secretaries
can contact the BPTBA secretary/PSUK Committee ten pin bowling representative Tom Walsh for a full format
breakdown. If there are less than 6
entrants then it will be the total score for 9 games in the singles and 6
games in the doubles.
- If
no regional qualifier is held entry to the National Championships for the
doubles event will be by bowling in the following Regional tournaments,
Sussex, West Yorkshire, and Metropolitan. The highest scoring doubles
pairing of each region over the three qualifiers will represent that
region at the National Championships. In the case of Scotland and
Metropolitan Police this will also include the runners up.
- If
no regional qualifier is held entry to the singles event will be
determined by the order in which the bowler finishes in the National Order
of Merit i.e.
the highest placed bowler in the region will represent that region. In the
case of Scotland and Metropolitan Police this will also include the second
placed finisher.
- In
the event of a winner being unable to attend the National Championships
they may be substituted by the runner(s) up. This will apply similarly to
Doubles events. For any other substitutions to be considered written
details of the request should be submitted to the National Indoor Games
Committee. In the case of Scotland and the Metropolitan Police third place
substitutions will be permitted.
- In
the event of there being less than 4 Regional
entrants for any event at the National Championships the event will not
take place.
- Winners
and runners up of all National Championships do not have to pre qualify for the following years National Championships.
- The
Championships have been designated a "No Smoking" event, by the
Indoor Games Committee. Smoking will not be allowed in any room in which
the competition is being played.
- The
singles event will consist of all bowlers bowling initially 6 games with
the following bonus pins being applied to the relevant game,

10 pin bonus for pinfall of 190 –199 men, 180-
189 ladies
·
15 pin bonus for pinfall of 200- 209 men, 190-
199 ladies
·
20 pin bonus for pinfall of 210- 229 men, 200–
219 ladies
·
30 pin bonus for pinfall 230+ men, 220+ ladies
18. After 6
games the top 6 bowlers then go onto play a further 3 games again bonus pins
apply.
- After
the 9 games have been bowled the top 5 bowlers who have the highest
pinfall including bonus pins go through to a stepladder final. Position on the stepladder determined by
your overall pinfall. High pinfall at the top , low in position 5, i.e. 5
v 4 the winner plays 3, winner plays 2, winners plays 1
- The
doubles competition will consist of all teams bowling initially 6 games with the following bonus pins
applied to the relevant pinfall,

15 pin bonus for pinfall 380-399
·
30 pin bonus for pinfall 400- 419
·
45 pin bonus for pinfall 420+
- After
the 6 game qualifier the top 6 teams play in a seeded two game knockout,
i.e. the highest pinfall qualifier plays lowest pinfall qualifier.
- The
winner of each of the three games will go into a 4 team stepladder final,
the highest pinfall will be at position number 1 etc. The remaining place on the stepladder
will be taken by the highest pinfall loser from the three games. This team will take the 4th
place on the stepladder.
- The
Council of the Police Sports UK has taken a limited liability Personal
Injury Policy of Insurance to cover any Competitor, Official or Committee
Member of the PAA aged between 16 and 65 years, who is participating or
officiating at any Championships organised on behalf of the Police Sports
UK, and who as a result of receiving serious bodily injury, dies or is
permanently disabled resulting in their being retired from their Force. A
condition of the Insurance Policy is that notice must be given to the
Insurance Company of any Injury which might give rise to any claim, as
soon as reasonably practicable and in any case within 21 days of the
occurrence. In order to comply with requirements both the organisers of
the National Championships and the Police Sports UK Office must be
informed of any such incident immediately. These conditions must be
brought to the attention of all Competitors by their inclusion in Entry
forms for the Championships. Competitors requiring additional Insurance
cover are advised to consult their own Insurance Companies.
- Awards
of suitable standard shall be made to winners and runners up and any
perpetual trophies awarded will be held for a period of 12 months, or
until the date of the next Championships. Recipients will be responsible
for the safe custody and return of trophies prior to the next
Championships.
- The
Police Sports UK Indoor Games Committee reserves the right to alter, amend
or add to any of the foregoing rules. Such changes will be submitted to
the Police Athletic Association Council for approval.
